Mr Lush S4E6 - Believe Every Word

In complete silence, the seconds, the minutes, the hours ticked by in endless space. Our words were like dust in a beam of light. We sat so close and yet so far from each other, as if time had an echo.

Your mouth didn’t speak but your skin told the most fantastical tales. Your smile was at once hesitant and loud. It created ripples between us. It was so fleeting, yet it seemed like it would never leave.

We exchanged words free and clear. But the words that truly mattered, the words we truly wanted to utter, remained unsaid. We could hear them in our hearts, as if every silence spoke and said: ‘Stay here, stay close, stay true.’

All that was left unsaid eventually merged with the darkness. Two loving breaths. Only the night knew the truth.

The words, both spoken and unspoken, ebbed away in the rose-tinted hours of a morning we wished would never end.

Only I, who wanted our voices to harmonise together forever, wished that nights like these would never unfold, like the most complex origami.  MM/DC
