It’s time for another old-time classic, and this will be a suit I have made in the next 6 months. For yes, believe it or not, this middle-aged man does not have this particular suit in his wardrobe (and forgive my use of the third person there. It. Won’t. Happen. Again.)
This week’s suit choice is one of, if not the most, reliable wardrobe staples you can own. I am talking about charcoal flannel. And, we have great news for you — the fabric we have chosen this week is one from our house bunch, which means it is not only a reliable go-to fabric, but also very competitively priced.
This charcoal flannel is made from 100% wool, weighing 340g per metre, milled by Vitale Barberis Canonico. It’s a soft yet durable fabric, and the colour can only be described as the perfect shade of grey. It is appropriate in business settings and also after 6 for drinks and dinner. You’ll always feel impeccably well-dressed wearing this fabric. In addition, the simplicity of the cloth and its discreet colour allows you to punch it up with your accessories.
Almost any shirt you pair this suit with will look amazing! In addition to our Shirt of the Week, which will be a knockout with this suit, I like charcoal with lilac, or with a bold blue and white stripe shirt. But, you’ll also dig through your shirt collection and find some lovely combinations to go with this suit. Mine will be a single-breasted, notch lapel (I haven’t decided yet on one or three buttons), with English-pleated, fully-cut yet tapered trousers. What will you go for? BTWB/YYS
