Our Suit of the Week again comes from Max himself, and I think this is easily one of the boldest (yet still elegant) choices of fabric so far in the series.
This time, Max has gone for a plum flannel by Loro Piana in a 95% wool, 5% cashmere cloth. At 320g per metre, it’s not too heavy, but the cashmere gives it a bit of additional warmth and softness.
And that colour! It’s dark enough to look formal, and, at the same time, the plum shade is more than a little bit rakish. It’ll be perfect for weekends, too. I’m thinking with a pair of brown suede loafers, monk straps, or brogues. And, dare I say it, you could wear the jacket with an odd pair of trousers as well (perhaps even with a pair of jeans). How versatile is that!?
I see this one in a classic Mogg double-breasted cut as it is such a lush colour. I reckon that the capacious lapels and fully-cut trousers of the classic Max Mogg double-breasted style will be perfect for the cloth. And, fear not single-breasted fans, it’ll also look great in SB. Maybe in a 3-button? Yes please! BTWB/MM/YS
