For our fifth Shirt of the Week, we’ve gone back to the master, Max himself, for a lime green Zephir shirt from Thomas Mason’s Silver line. Max and I both love pastels for shirting, and this particular example looks amazing! Pastels are great because they look eminently appropriate in the warmer spring and summer months, especially with lighter suitings (both in terms of fabric and colour tone).
As I look out my window here in Berlin, it is sunny, humid and 23° centigrade. Today is, therefore, a perfect day to combine this lime green shirt with a linen suit. The shirt will look very smart with a warm-weather suit of this type. But, the pastels also look great with a darker, more sober suit, as the brightness of the shirt fabric provides a wonderful contrast with the darkness of the suit.
The vibrant colour of this shirt serves as a wonderful canvas to really allow you to do something really fun with a tie. You could go for something dark with a discreet pattern (maybe a navy tie with green spots), or you could go for a contrast with another bright colour (I love green and lilac or green and pink together). Your only limit is your imagination, and the versatility of this shirt makes it easy to come up with some knockout combinations. Give it a try! BTWB/MM/YS
