The Suit of the Week – Episode 9 – Max’s choice

by

Yves Yannick Stork

This week we’ve taken a slightly different approach from usual, and Max has gone for a jacket of the week. It’s a piece that that looks ahead to autumn weekends, when we will have cooler, crisper weather, shorter days, and longer nights. The jacket can be worn with an odd pair of trousers like flannel or cavalry twill.

Max has chosen a lovely cloth from Fox Brothers‘ Fox Tweed II line, in a very smart-looking brown, blue and light grey multi-check with a sturdy weight of 510g/m. It is one of those classic, British fabrics that you often see worn at house parties in the country. Wonderful for outdoor pursuits or even just for a stroll to the country pub for a glass (or two) of your favourite tipple. No matter where you live, though, this cloth will look fantastic.

The classic configuration for this jacket will be an old school 3-button style, and, to me, this would be the best way to wear it. Imagine this with hefty, dust-collecting turn-ups on your flannels or twills, worn with a heavier, chunky brown brogue (maybe something in a chocolate suede?).

And don’t forget our Shirt of the Week, in the wonderful mint green Oxford fabric. Tonally, it is a perfect match, and this will be a combination that you’ll love to wear in a few months’ time. Enjoy the rest of the summer, but know that you’ve got stylish alternatives like this to look forward to in the cooler months ahead!
